Sean Astin joins the cast of "24"!

"Sean Astin, who starred in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, is joining the cast of Fox's real-time drama "24," which will again kick off its season with four episodes screening on two consecutive nights.

Astin will portray a new addition to the Counter Terrorist Unit in the drama series, which stars Kiefer Sutherland as agent Jack Bauer.

The fifth season will premiere with two episodes from 8-10 p.m. January 8, followed by two from 8-10 p.m. January 9 (the second episode January 9 will be the show's 100th). On January 16, the fifth hour of "24" will air in the show's regular 9 p.m. Monday slot..."- Reuters

Totally cool! Sean Astin is a great actor, and will be a great addition to the already great "24" cast!

  • Ok, I am DEFINITELY going to watch this show now! I LOVE Sean Astin!!!

By Blogger Sara, at 9:37 PM

  • Yeah, but he better not get shot or beat up or anything, because I'll keep seeing him as Sam. It'll be terrible. I hope he's a cool agent, though! Or he could be a bad guy!

By Blogger MVB, at 10:01 PM

  • Sean Astin could NEVER be a bad guy...:)

By Blogger Sara, at 10:06 PM

  • Sounds cool! Wish I had TV...:<)

By Blogger Polka Dotted Pickles, at 10:11 PM

  • Awwww. You are really missing a good show... that's a shame...

By Blogger MVB, at 10:13 PM

  • Wouldn't be cool, though? Loyal, innocent Sam playing a rough, angry bad guy!

By Blogger MVB, at 10:14 PM

  • Yeah, your soccer games sound pretty violent! Sounds fun though. :<)

By Blogger Polka Dotted Pickles, at 11:22 AM

  • That would be a very different role for Sean Astin- but I'm sure he could do it- he's such a good actor. Do you know that he has 3 little girls now? His wife just had another baby this past July.

By Blogger Sara, at 9:01 PM

  • I din't eve know he was married, but ok. That's cool. I think he would do a good job as the bad guy, though he doesn't look like a terrorist. :)

By Blogger MVB, at 10:14 AM

  • Just dropping by to say hi. "HI!" :<)

By Blogger Polka Dotted Pickles, at 3:49 PM

  • How could you not know he is married??? You must not have watched the special edition LOTR DVDs- I know that Ash knows.;)
    Hi Danika! :D

By Blogger Sara, at 9:48 PM

  • What he has 3 kids!!! Omgosh! I didn't get to watch the special edition though so I am left out of the loop! lol

By Blogger ballerina4him, at 2:43 PM

  • Well, it's not explained in the extended that he has three kids, or even two, both of them weren't born yet. The Internet Movie Database-it's a link on both of my sites- has all that info. It's a really cool site, you should check it out!

By Blogger Sara, at 4:57 PM

  • Hi Danika! Wait a minute! Yes, I did know. Because his real-life daughter played his daughter in The Return of the King. Sorry about that.... :) But, I still can't wait for the new season of 24. It starts October 2nd. It's definitely not for the whole family though... But it still is very good.

  • Is there alot of language and violence? Kinda like LOST?

By Blogger Sara, at 6:03 PM

  • I don't have TV so I'm clueless about that show. Doesn't Sean Astin have a son? That's what I heard.... I thought that he has a son and two daughters.

By Blogger Emily, at 4:29 PM

  • Hi! Thanks for posting, Emily!

Well Sara, the language isn't that bad, in fact in some episodes there is none at all. But the violence is pretty bad. Nothing overwhelming, but like.... fighting, shooting, torture, etc... Just not for little kids...

Before the show begins you hear:

"Due to some graphic violence, viewer discretion is advised."

By Blogger MVB, at 9:04 PM

  • Ok, thanks Zach! Emily, I don't think Sean Astin has a son, I think he has all girls. :D

  • Hi! Hope you had a good labor day!

By Blogger Polka Dotted Pickles, at 10:46 AM

  • Yeah, it was pretty good. The funny thing was, we planned to go out ( me and my family and my grandparents) and get banana splits. So out we went to Friendly's and they had run out of bananas! What a disappointment. But we had fun anyway. How was your Labor Day?

By Blogger MVB, at 5:35 PM

  • Wow! You got some Dixie in that linguist quiz? That is pretty funny!

By Blogger Sara, at 2:36 PM

By Blogger pete, at 6:16 PM
